comparing morphine against or besides every other route or installent in the dmmd franchise is very. hard. it was a type of redemption i guess. it was made to give a few characters one more chance even after everyone got their "happy endings".

in terms of writing, characters, whatever its so fucking good i cannot stress enough how much i love sly and mizuki, how much i think each of them are so fucking good both by themselves and with each other. sly blue is the best dmmd character i dont give a fuck he is such a character he stands out amongst the rest in so many ways. the way he stole the show from aoba and he forcibly took everyone's "happy ending" and said "if i cant have it no one can" but grows to realize it doesn't have to be that way. in a world of cold and cruel people, theres people who love him regardless of who he is, of what he can and cant control. if people hate you then fuck em. but you won't know whats out there unless you get out there. if the entire world rejects him, who gives a shit. he has people who love him. when he looks at it that way, the world isnt as bad as it seems

but can it stand alone? is a question i ask myself when comparing the routes. yes i think it can but when it comes to ranking routes i think of most satasfying conclusion for everyone? true end/ren route. best encaspulates dmmd, its world, its design, etc? noiz route. sweetest most beautiful character and story? clear route. and for morphine its hard because it was made for people who've played dmmd and even re:connect too it was a redemption and a second chance and dare i say a more genuine sequal than re:connect. so it cant really be compared to original dmmd routes for that reason but do i think morphine is just as good if not better than them because, despite the necessary and crucial need for context both in game and metatextual, its so good on every front.

mizuki and sly have such a good dynamic and it helps that besides aoba and koujaku they've known each other the longest out of any other dmmd couple. the way sly and mizuki develop and grow, the fact that at a certain point sly hates mizuki enough to kill him but still comes around to loving him at the end is amazing. speaking of loving him yknow whats kinda fucked but also pretty crazy for a port of a gay porn game? slyzuki is left up for interpretation. aaaaa out of all dmmd relationships i want an aditional story for them the most it sucks that this game came out after re:connect but oh well them being ambiguous adds to their depth in a nice way without anything being too forced but its still disapointing a bit

i already loved morphine's story so much and being able to play it with visuals music and voice acting oh it made it 100x better. who knew a censored version of a porn game for the ps vita could be so good.

"This is a mark that belongs to you, one that could no longer be erased… You’re the one who’d put this on me." he likes seeing mizuki shake and fall apart with guilt and fear he wants him to be unable to disconnect no matter what. he wants him to always be next to his greatest fear and wants them to be connected forever. could this be slys affection towards mizuki coming out subconsciously question marrrk.. obviously he shows him "affection" by keeping him around but is this him holding onto the fact mizuki was the only one who accepted him..

sly says a tattoo is a sign that he belongs to somethign or someone and goes on to say that he doesnt belong to anyone but when he says its "not so bad" is he growing fond of the idea of being connected to someone.. having someone to belong to.. more importantly having someone that would want him to belong to them .. ? the phrase "not so bad" was used in the good ending after he suggests that they make their "accident" not an accident next time. another example of intimacy and the idea of being able to have a relationship with someone. of couse the endings are parallels of each other its not a revolutionary concept but yeeaaaa
im just picking apart this ending seeing every detail i can find and seeing exactly how sly adjusts to his bad ending. an ending which he completely wins in. hes on the top of morphine, all obstacles in his way are gone or will be gone soon enough, and he has a "favorite toy" who will never leave his side. but is it really the best ? wait im still off topic

mizuki, after being being called a shit leader, perhaps remembers a fraction of what he had before. what he had before everything. the most important part of his life and how its all gone now. just a small reminent of something so far gone coming back for just a moment is what caused him to wince in pain, to feel, just for a moment again in a familiar but unknown anguish, and then it going back to nothing when hes reminded of his current reality after sly reminds him of what he has to do kinda sucks actually. its sad. i dont like it if you view it with that connotation. sigh

the song sounds like its saying goodnight to everyone thats why the last line is "sayonara" as well as there being refrence to sleep in the japanese lyrics everyones being laid to rest in their new forms. sleeping in a sweet and comforting grave as they close their eyes and sucumb to their new realities. which is exactly what the song sounds like to me

its smooth, calm, soothing, the electic and synth sounds are artificial yet comforting. the repetativeness of the lyrics and the beat add to a collective feeling of hopelessness. i could fall asleep to this shit tbh and i know shit fuck about music terms or whatever but it just sounds sad. i think its the same as how i described the zap musics idk im not going back to read them but yea overall for sweet form is a sorrowfull acceptence is how i would describe it.
