Guide 2 Goatbed

intro

if you're looking to get into goatbed im assuming its because you've played dramatical murder, or was on my site and saw my archive and got curious? but i'm assuming most people have played dmmd and loved the soundtrack and thats exactly how i got into goatbed too i played dmmd and slow damage and fell in love. while i was looking at songs on youtube i think i happened to stumble upon "Whodunit howdunit whydunit" and was blown away because i instantly recognized it as one of dmmd's background tracks but with lyrics and OOOOOOOOOOAUAG. I was pleased to discover its something goatbed does a lot, not just with dmmd's bgm but most songs of theirs too.

If i had to tell soemone where to start it would be dmmd's soundtrack if they havent listed to it already. If you didnt know Goatbed made all the bgm for Dramatical murder, dramatical murder Re:connect, and dramatical murder re:code, + a good amount of the vocals tracks such as the opening song, non character specific good ending song, character ending specific songs for those 3 games. They also did the anime opening and ending and other songs that were used in various dmmd media. in total that should be 39 instrumental bgm tracks, and 16.5 for vocal tracks? the .5 is because theres a japanese version of "Ai Catch" for re:code but that should be around the total amount. I recommend this because i think its easier to connect with something if its associated with something, and that something being aoba seragki of all creatures, but also its good because its kinda of like seeing what goatbed can do when theyre given an assignment to express all these emotions and situations through the bgm and vocal tracks i guess. its a it different than when theyre justing making non gay porn game albums yknow.

if youve already done that, then my next recommendation whould be some of the "repurposed" dmmd songs, the albums made during 2012-2015, or the "Less than" series. again im going off of you're interested in goatbed because of dmmd and thus I think thess choices would be a good transition into the rest of the discography. I say this because its kinda hard for me to describe genres or feelings of songs but non dmmd goatbed is a bit different than dmmd goatbed yknow. like dmmd uses retro game 8-bit, melodies all the time because its dmmd and is mostly upbeat but that motif isnt really there in other songs. if you dont care about dmmd at all them fuck if i know where you should start but maybe check out my personal favorites.

another thing with goatbed is theyve been around since 2003 and has changed. i think their pre-dramatical murder sound was new wave and synth pop while post dmmd has more futuristic sounding techno beats but then 2017+ is a bit darker? or smoother? or something than the 2012-2016 durring and post dmmd stuff.

dmmd song chart

goatbed frequently does remixs/repurposes songs in newer albums (Ex: the entire "Less Than" series of albums). some of them can just be described as remasters but others could be described and reimaginings (EX: "masculine devil" turning into "manish fiend"). I really like these becuase of the love i have for dmmd but seeing things transform over time

here is the list of songs from dmmd that were brought back as a new song at some point. most are bgm and for those i'll be referring to the in game track name like when you go into the extras and select a song this is because it is easier

Less Than and pre dmmd

you may have noticed theres a lot of "less than" in my favs thats because the less than albums are remixes/remasters of pre-dmmd/ 2003-2009 songs. it was a really good way to get into some of those songs while still having that ultra electronic feel. the less than series spans across 8 albums and features 5 songs in 7 out of the 8. those songs are from the albums goatbed, Technicontrastoron 01, Technicontrastoron 02, Working Walkman, SYNTHESPIANS, STOWAWAY TO PARADIS, and a couple others. i like them a lot and i also like a lot of the original versions of the songs so listen to the less thans and listen to the originals they can be pretty different soemtimes
i feel like a lot of pre-dmmd songs (both in less than and their original forms) can be described as getting tazzed.

straight up just listen to pre-dmmd albums with or without less than they go so hard
